Prayer for Pain by captainkodak1 Prayer for Pain by captainkodak1
Hard to describe this one unless you have dealt with the things I have. Prayer has been a wonderful thing for me over the past few months and years. I recently had quadruple bypass surgery. They took two veins out of my arm for two of the four bypasses. The surgery was tough. The recovery has been harder.

Wow, I've had surgery to get an organ removed before, and man that sucked. I'm glad you found comfort in God's grace!

I was in his arms the whole time. I have no doubt in that.

I remember one thing very well. When I woke up in ICU, I could not move, open my eyes, or even breathe on my own. I was conscious but could only lie there and listen to my heart monitor beep and the respirator hiss and whoosh as it breathed for me. I don't think I have ever been as close to the heavenly father as I was at that time.

Wow, I could never imagine that. That closest I've ever been was when I was much younger. I almost drowned and my vision went black and I couldn't hear anything. Being in your spot, I would've been terrified without God.

my prayers are with you during your recovery.

It's been two years and still a struggle. It's the diet and the medicine. Both are a pain but the alternative is not to be here. I'll learned to deal with the diet, it's very restrictive but I am used to it. The meds are okay but the side effects get to me from time to time. I hope how you got your scar was not was painful as how I got mine.

Yeah the scar is sort of noticeable. But the Lord has been right here with me all the way. It's been over two years now and it is still a struggle.

So true. I have a loving wife of 23 years, a son and a daughter. All give me a reason to live each day. The Lord has been with me each step of the way.

Thank you. If I had thought about it I would have taken the shot earlier when all that was held together with metal staples. That would have been interesting. real Frankenstein look for sure.

I have featured your work in a news article that means a lot to me, [link] the subject is suicide.
A very dear friend of mine killed himself at my home 5 weeks ago and I feel a strong need to get the word out about depression along with anxiety disorders that add to the risk of suicide.

I am honored by your use of that picture. I know what depression can be like. One of the things a bypass patient had to go through is depression. I had my fight with it and still fight it. If in any way I may help you, please let me know.

The Captain

Thank you so much. My father had bypass surgery and I remember how had to deal with depression also, luckily, it passed quickly with him. I appreciate you allowing me to use your work, as I said it means a lot to me.

Well Captain, you made it! It wasn't easy.
I recognized the scar in the photo. I watched my dad go through it that same year. He is still recovering mentally. The depression, the numbness, and now the normality. I think the hardest part for him was accepting that he was going to live...Take Care!

It's going fairly well. The recovery could take as much a 9 months. Not all pain is physical, there is plenty of mental pain too.
